Last week I taught a class at the Thomasville Center for the Arts. I had 15 students eager to learn, some were professional artists, some budding artists. We had two hours to paint four layers (modifying my process) using a variety of materials, brushes, palette knives on an 16×20 wood panel. We had the hairdryers going full blast to dry in between layers! The class time went over a bit, but I think everyone was satisfied with their results. One student said, “Your technique helps to make amateur-ish work look good!” I enjoyed the experience and loved the work that was created by the group. There’s always a special connection made while making art together in a group, and this class was no different.
