Abstracts

I enjoy experimenting with texture and technique so much that the subject matter becomes less important to me than the exploration.  I may begin with a general idea of what I’d like the painting to look like in the end but often times I’m figuring it out as I work.  This is what I call […]

Poppies Now and Poppies Then…

Once again I am drawn to paint a red poppy field. My style is evolving. It looks looser than before when I compare my first field of red poppies below from 2009. I still use the same technique, and love it, but I make my blooms fuller and varying in size now, I apply more […]

Grandmother’s Tulips

This week my 48×60″Grandmother’s Tulips” above found a home (sold at Suzannz Down Under)! Always Poppies

Always poppies. Interesting how the stems twist and curve and I like the touch of black in the middle. I liked the way the circles on the vase fade. I can’t get enough of the bright yellow greens and various shades of turquoise with the earthy brown combination.  And of course a playful bird at the […]

Cypress Restaurant-Artist Series Exhibit

June 1, 2011 through September 1, 2011 This was a wonderful show…Elizabeth and David really know how to support local artists by exhibiting their work in this idealic setting.  I enjoyed each visit with the Cypress Restaurant gang and Caroline was so helpful. I sold most of my art displayed during the three month show.
